You were good at your job. That had nothing to do with why you were let go.

The Layoff Intensive is 6 weeks of private, 1-on-1 work to rebuild how you show up in this market and get you back in front of the people who hire.

3 to 5 clients. Sign-ups open September 22nd. Cohort begins October 5th, preparing you for the January hiring surge.

Applying harder is not the answer

The market changed underneath you, and the advice that worked in 2019 does not work now.

You have done this before. You updated the resume, you turned on Open to Work, you applied to 40 roles in a week. And then nothing. Not a rejection. Nothing.

That is not a reflection of your work.

Applications per opening have roughly doubled in 3 years. Over the same stretch, recruiting teams were cut by more than half. The result is a system where a qualified senior candidate can disappear into a queue and never hear a word back. More than 1 in 4 unemployed workers in the US are now 6 months or more into a search.

Volume is exactly what the system is drowning in. What has to change is what you look like before anyone talks to you, and who is looking at all.

Every month that passes costs you twice

The first cost is money. Every month without income draws down whatever severance and savings you started with, and once that number gets low enough it starts making your decisions for you. You stop holding out for the right role and start taking whichever one moves fastest.

The second cost is your story. One month out is a pause. Nine months out is something a hiring manager asks you to explain. And the longer it runs, the more of your energy goes into defending the search instead of making the case for the work.

You do not need more time. You need a different approach, applied quickly.

I sit on the other side of the table

I’ve led and built teams at Apple and Salesforce.

A few years ago I was hiring for a senior leadership role. The posting drew more than 400 applicants in 2 days. 10 job seekers reached out on LinkedIn about the role, so I gave them 30 minutes each. Not to discuss that role. Just to let them make their case.

Every one of them was good. But as I learned more about each of them, I realized that not one of their most important wins showed up anywhere on their resume, their portfolio, or their LinkedIn profile. They were all waiting to share their value in a conversation that the system was never going to give them.

That gap is the entire thesis of my work. You are not underqualified. You are underrepresented on paper, and the paper is the only thing most companies ever see.

Most of what clients pay me for is accountability: applying what they already know, fast enough that they don't miss the window.

Three moves,
six weeks.

1. Figure out what you are actually selling.

Positioning, target market, and the narrative for the layoff. You get a written positioning brief you can point everything else at.

2. Rebuild your story for this market.

Resume, LinkedIn, and the whole surface a stranger sees before they decide whether to talk to you. Written for the lean hiring teams actually reading it

3. Prepare to win them over in the room.

STAR stories, the hard questions, and the interview itself. Placing yourself in the role, so they can picture you in it.

What’s included.

Six private sessions

Positioning and strategy. Full resume rebuild, over 2 sessions. LinkedIn optimization. STAR stories workshop. Interview preparation and feedback. Everything to elevate your voice in a market that has gone quiet.

A written positioning brief

Delivered in session 2, after we’ve uncovered your values, wins, and what you bring to the post-pandemic job market. The foundation of your search and how you show up to every touchpoint.

Async access between sessions

Send me a job description, a recruiter message, or a draft through Alberto. You get a response within 48 hours on weekdays.

Networking support for the full engagement

Strategies to use your network to find opportunities, without it coming across as begging. Cold and warm messaging templates and follow-up cadences.

Alberto Dream, included for a year

The companion app I built. Job tracking, LAMP scoring, resume tools, and interview prep, with more than thirty-five exercises, plus weekly group coaching.

A negotiation session when the offer comes

You reach out when you need it. We'll run the numbers, discuss the entire package, and figure out where you can push for more and how.

Sign the offer. What’s next?

We’ll have a 30-minute strategy session to build your first 30-60-90 day plan. You’ll receive my strategy framework and materials for cultivating trust. You’ll also identify 2 competencies to develop.

Your 90 day check-in

I don't disappear once you start the job. We connect at 90 days to check how the new role and company are working out, and come with a strategy your next 3 months.

Is this right for you?

This is built for you if you were recently laid off, you are mid-career or later, and you were doing the job well right up until the day it ended.

It is a fit if you can put in 4 to 6 hours a week and you want someone who will tell you the truth about your materials rather than tell you they look great.

This is not for you if you are early in your career, if you are casually browsing while employed, or if money is tight right now. Start with the book (The 30-Day Job Offer, $6.99), group coaching, and Alberto – it’s free to get started. My early-career clients do well with those, and I'd rather you use them than stretch for this."

Two ways to work together
